The Amarkantak Aluminum Mine is a surface mining operation. Initial production took place in 1972. Mine operations consist of surface workings extending 581.00 hectares (1,435.68 acres). There is one known shaft. The mining method is open pit. Mine capacity in 1981 was 1600 mt ore/day with a production unit cost of 4.89 $/mt ore.Pedosphere.
